Oklahoma Says...

Hey there...this week you are getting my Just Sayin' thought from the booming metropolis of Mounds, Oklahoma or, as the locals would say, Mounds, America...population 7, usually 5, but Brenda and I showed up.

Given my penchant for acrostics...here we go....

Coming to small group is not about how much you, or I, know - it is about how we GROW.

G    ....go to the WORD
R    ....read the WORD
O    ....obey the WORD
W   ....witness the WORD...

The Word Became Flesh ] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

See Ya' Sunday

Psalm 5

Sometime we intend, even long to pray.  Prayer is a subject much discussed in our group.  However, in the crush of life, we do not or cannot...pray.  We then feel guilty and belive we are less than Christian.  The promises we find in scripture about the Holy Spirit "comforting" us in our time of need give us a unique perspective.  No matter how stumbling, incoherent or rambling our prayers may be - the Holy Spirit is pleading, for us, in a language heaven hears and understands.

Psalm 5
Give ear to my words, O Lord;
    Give heed to my sighing.

Listen to the sound of my cry,
    My King and my God,
    For to you I pray.

Just sayin'

Authenticity

David sought God passionately in both work and worship.  Despite his flaws and sins David was appalled by anything less than authentic worship. In Psalm's we see over and over again that David had a great awareness of God's holiness and his presence...think on these thoughts today.

Psalm 57:9-11 NRSV

I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
    I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens;
    Your faithfulness extends to the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.
    Let your glory be over all the earth.

...see you tonight.

I'm just sayin'...
